On September 13th within the scenic grounds of the Hotel Del Coronado, an unforgettable evening of epicurean splendor showcasing the talents of over 30 of the best chefs from San Diego and Baja was held at the annual Grand Chef Throwdown. The progressive event brought together local fashionable foodies awarding a People’s Choice Award and a Culinary Council of celebrity top chefs and food critics, awarding the Chef Flor Franco Awards for Culinary Excellence. Guests enjoyed chef tastings, both savory and sweet creations, sample craft cocktails and sips from wineries on both sides of the border followed by a three-course gourmet dinner prepared by The Del’s Executive Chef, Stefan Peroutka in the oceanfront Ballroom. Both the silent and live auction had memorable offerings for attendees to consider during the course of the evenings festivities. All proceeds are meant to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
