On September 19, Anvil of Hope’s sold-out The Silver Screen Affaire gala brought the community together for an evening supporting underserved youth. With live entertainment, elegant dining, and a curated auction, the gathering offered an opportunity to celebrate, connect, and contribute to a cause whose importance extends well beyond a single night.
At the heart of the evening was Anvil of Hope’s mission: breaking the cycle of poverty and helping ensure that everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Founded by Peter and Vicky Zien, this San Diego nonprofit supports young people through mentorship, enrichment activities, and opportunities to explore education and future careers. Its work encourages students to stay engaged in school, discover their interests, and imagine what comes next with greater confidence.
That support can take many forms: a mentor who listens, an activity that reveals a new talent, or a conversation that opens a young person’s eyes to a career they had never considered. Through experiences involving sports, arts, music, and career guidance, Anvil of Hope helps create opportunities for learning, connection, and personal growth.
The September 19 gala placed that mission at the center of a celebratory evening. The Silver Screen Affaire brought a touch of glamour to the occasion while giving supporters a shared reason to gather: investing in the potential of young people in our community. The evening’s dining, entertainment, and auction provided a setting for generosity and for building connections around that commitment.
