Founded in Encinitas in 1960, the Rancho Coastal Humane Society (RCHS) has spent more than six decades serving as a cornerstone for animal welfare across North County San Diego. Operating under the principle that "Every Animal Deserves a Tomorrow," the organization provides lifesaving shelter, veterinary care, and adoption services for thousands of companion animals each year. Beyond pet adoptions, RCHS stands out for its community-focused support programs, including pet food banks, humane education youth initiatives, and the Animal Safehouse Program, which offers temporary safety and care for pets belonging to domestic violence victims, military personnel, and individuals facing crisis.
On September 19, supporters, animal lovers, and community leaders gathered at the picturesque Del Mar Country Club for the organization's annual signature event, the Celebration of Second Chances gala. Set against the rolling greens and Mediterranean architecture of the venue, the evening served as both a celebration of regional rescue victories and an essential fundraiser to sustain RCHS's ongoing emergency rescue operations.
The event featured a sunset reception with cocktails and hors d'oeuvres, giving attendees an opportunity to mingle alongside shelter alumni and advocates. Guests enjoyed a gourmet dinner followed by a live auction featuring curated experience packages, fine art, and luxury getaways. Throughout the night, heartfelt stories were highlighted on stage, reminding attendees of the direct impact their generosity brings to vulnerable pets across San Diego County and beyond.
