Have a Heart for Autism

On Friday, February 6, 2026, community supporters and compassionate friends gathered for a heart-warming fundraising luncheon to benefit the Autism Society San Diego. The event, titled Have a Heart for Autism, was graciously hosted by Laura Applegate at her elegant home in Rancho Santa Fe, California, and co-hosted by Gilda Adler.

Set amid the timeless charm of Rancho Santa Fe, the morning gathering unfolded from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., offering a warm and welcoming atmosphere for all in attendance. Guests were treated to a thoughtfully curated selection of delicious fare and refreshing beverages, setting the tone for a relaxed yet purposeful experience. Throughout the morning, uplifting conversation flowed easily, fostering meaningful connections among individuals united by a shared commitment to advancing autism awareness and supporting vital community services. The event served not only as a social gathering, but as a heartfelt reminder of the power of coming together in service of a greater cause.

The theme Have a Heart for Autism drew many who came decked in pink and red — colors symbolizing love and compassion — helping to create a warm, inviting atmosphere throughout the home.

Beyond savoring the morning’s culinary delights, guests enjoyed time for light shopping and relaxed socializing, seamlessly blending an enjoyable experience with a meaningful philanthropic mission. The atmosphere encouraged connection and generosity, allowing attendees to engage with one another while supporting a cause close to their hearts. Most importantly, every dollar raised during the luncheon directly benefited the Autism Society San Diego—an organization dedicated to providing essential support, advocacy, educational resources, and inclusive programs for individuals on the autism spectrum and their families. The collective impact of the event reinforced the importance of community-driven efforts in creating understanding, opportunity, and lasting positive change.

The event offered more than just fundraising — it was a celebration of community, understanding, and generosity. Attendees left inspired by stories shared throughout the event and reminded of the importance of continued support for autism-related services. As the community looks forward to future events, Have a Heart for Autism set a meaningful tone for philanthropy in 2026, demonstrating how a shared commitment can make a difference in the lives of many.
