La Jolla Bishop's School Gala

The Bishop's School, one of San Diego’s most distinguished independent college-preparatory institutions, has been shaping young minds since its founding in 1909. Serving students in grades six through twelve, the La Jolla campus—set just above the coastline—blends historic charm with a forward-looking academic environment defined by rigorous coursework, a vibrant arts program, and a strong emphasis on character, inclusion, and community engagement. With a low student-to-teacher ratio and Episcopal roots, the school continues to foster both intellectual excellence and a deep sense of purpose among its students.

On Saturday, April 25, that spirit was on full display during the 2026 Bishop’s School Gala, elegantly themed “A Knight on the Mediterranean.” Held on campus, the evening began with a gracious cocktail reception before guests moved into an exquisite dinner and a spirited live auction. Parents, alumni, faculty, and supporters gathered in a setting that balanced sophistication with genuine connection, united by a shared commitment to the school’s mission.

The gala benefitted the school’s vital financial aid program, underscoring a collective dedication to expanding access and opportunity for future generations. Among the evening’s most memorable moments was the presentation of a remarkable drawing, announcing the winning ticket holder who bid on this remarkable prize —a once-in-a-lifetime journey for six to encounter Rwanda’s mountain gorillas in their natural habitat—an offering that captured both imagination and generosity. In every respect, the evening reflected the essence of Bishop’s: tradition paired with purpose, and a community deeply invested in the promise of its students.
