Las Patronas Luncheon

A Flourish of Philanthropy and New Beginnings Las Patronas New Member Luncheon

On a radiant autumn afternoon, members of Las Patronas gathered in courtesy, celebration, and cognizance of a new chapter. The annual luncheon, held under the gracious canopy of friendship and purpose, welcomed eight distinguished women into the ranks of Las Patronas’ class of 2025 – 2026. The gathering hummed with cheer, shared values, and the anticipation for the organization’s signature event: the upcoming 80th Annual Jewel Ball.

Welcoming the Class of 2025–26

The new cadre of Las Patronas comprises eight remarkable women whose commitment to San Diego’s nonprofit community and philanthropic legacy now finds a formal home. The new members are:

  • Jessica Donovan

  • Angela Fukumura

  • Julie Glazer Scher

  • Kim Khoury

  • Paige Kratz

  • Parissa Tadrissi

  • Amanda (“Moo”) Walker

  • Elham Zand

Each new member will embark on a six-year active membership, through which they will rotate responsibilities, engage in grant-making visits, and support the fundraising apparatus of the organization. The luncheon served not only to introduce these women to the broader membership, but also to emphasize the importance of shared mission, civic leadership, and collaborative energy that defines Las Patronas.

The 80th Annual Jewel Ball — “Festa di Venezia”

Marking a milestone in Las Patronas’ storied history is the upcoming event: the 80th Annual Jewel Ball, titled “Festa di Venezia”. The gala is scheduled for Saturday, August 8, 2026 at the La Jolla Beach & Tennis Club. The evening will transport guests into “the dream that is Venice,” with décor, ambiance and theatricality befitting a waterfront Soirée inspired by la Serenissima.

At the helm of this landmark event is Jenny McGowan, serving as the Jewel Ball Chair. Under her leadership, the membership of Las Patronas will orchestrate the year-long build, décor installation, logistics and fundraising efforts that culminate with the Ball. The mission remains constant: to support and fund vital San Diego County nonprofits through the proceeds of this gala.

As the Class of 2025–26 takes its place, the countdown to the Festa di Venezia begins in earnest. In the months ahead, Las Patronas will convene in warehouse-style build-weeks, hang décor at the club site, unfold the auction catalogue, and mobilize sponsorships. Guests of the Ball this August will enjoy an ambiance of gondolas, Venetian masks, shimmering waterfront décor — but behind the glamour lies the compelling purpose of making a measurable difference in the San Diego community.
