Music & Masters - Timken Museum

Guests joined the San Diego Symphony’s Nuvi Mehta on Saturday, August 17th for a sublime evening of music in the Timken’s Central Gallery. Music & Masters: Beethoven & the Kreutzer Sonata explored Beethoven’s era, his upbringing, and the character that shaped him as he entered his most celebrated years, when many of his most iconic works—including the Kreutzer Sonata—were composed. Originally written for George Bridgetower (1778–1860), a violin virtuoso visiting Vienna in the spring of 1803, the Sonata provided a fascinating centerpiece for the evening. Mehta captivated the audience with insightful commentary, followed by a stirring performance with pianist Jessie Chang.
