An Evening of Giving at Estancia: Supporting San Diego’s Next Generation
The Positive Movement Foundation’s gala at Estancia La Jolla brought attention to a cause close to home: helping underserved and at-risk children across San Diego County gain the resources, encouragement, and opportunities they need to succeed.
Titled “An Amalfi Affair,” the fundraiser drew its inspiration from Italy’s celebrated coastline. The event’s advertised program paired a coastal Italian dinner with wines, craft cocktails, live entertainment, and immersive performances, creating an evening designed to connect celebration with charitable giving.
Behind the occasion is an organization whose message—“Make Positive Movement”—takes shape through practical support for local school communities. Led by founder and president Omid Sabet, The Positive Movement Foundation works to give vulnerable young people access to educational tools and support that can help them build their futures.
Its approach extends beyond classroom supplies. The foundation provides enrichment activities, wellness programs, student incentives, and assistance for families, while also recognizing the teachers and school staff who support children every day. Food distributions, back-to-school shopping, holiday assistance, and emergency family support are among the ways it addresses obstacles that can affect a child’s ability to learn.
School partnerships are central to that work. The foundation describes commitments lasting at least two years, allowing support to develop around each school’s needs. Programs include therapy-dog visits, free classes introducing students to activities such as art and CPR, and school gardens that offer hands-on learning. Schools can also submit wish lists for classroom materials and other student-centered resources.
That everyday work gives the Estancia gathering its larger purpose. An evening centered on food, entertainment, and generosity offers a way for supporters to invest in opportunities that continue well beyond the event itself: a better-equipped classroom, a new learning experience, or timely help for a family.
At the heart of The Positive Movement Foundation is a straightforward belief: children deserve access to the tools and opportunities that allow them to pursue their ambitions. “An Amalfi Affair” placed that mission at the center of an evening of giving in La Jolla.
