The Power of Love Gala welcomed the honored donors who over the years continuously support the efforts of the Charity Ball with a reception at the Hotel Del Coronado followed by a dazzling night of celebration and support as attendees dined, danced, and toasted to the elegant tradition of the Charity Ball.

Having started in 1909, Charity Ball is celebrated as San Diego’s oldest and grandest philanthropic event. Since 1954, Charity Ball has exclusively benefited Rady Children’s Hospital-San Diego. This year’s beneficiary is the new Neuroscience Institute, which offers the exciting possibility of changing the future of a child who has a potentially devastating neurological condition. 

Hilary was 5 years old when she unexpectantly passed out in her Kindergarten class. At first doctors thought it was just low blood sugar but once she was brought to Rady Children’s Hospital, doctors determined Hilary suffered from epilepsy. She was suffering from up to 40 seizures a day when the she was placed on a medical ketogenic diet.
