On October 16th, March of Dimes Signature Chefs Gala was held at the L'Auberge in Del Mar, in support of the March of Dimes work to nourish all aspects of motherhood – from prenatal to postpartum by fueling change and ensuring all pregnant moms have access to care, addressing inequity in maternal health, and strengthening moms, babies and families.
Dr. Ajayi is a board certified pediatrician and fellowship-trained palliative care physician. She is leading a progressive study conducted by Scripps Research, referred to as "Power Mom," a research effort that aims to construct communities of pregnant research participants; using wearable technologies to build the largest ever research community of pregnant study participants. The data collected is a key part of addressing the structural racism that causes Black women to be three times more likely to die during childbirth and Black infants to be twice as likely to die within their first year of life.
Dr. Senyei is an inventor of the first, and currently only, FDA-approved test to predict and help manage pre-term birth, which has been used by well over 2 million women worldwide. Dr. Senyei is also a venture capitalist with more than 35 years of experience in building emerging growth biotechnology and healthcare companies.
SUPPORT THE MISSION
From polio to prematurity, March of Dimes has been working to save babies for over 80 years. March of Dimes leads the fight for the health of all moms and babies. We cannot do it alone. Together, with support from our community, we can achieve our goals of preventing preterm birth, preventing maternal morbidities and deaths, and closing the health equity gap.
Prematurity is the #1 killer of babies in the United States. We are working to change that and help more moms have full-term pregnancies and health babies. The March of Dimes has focused on researching the problems that threaten our children and finding ways to prevent them.
Funds raised at our Signature Chefs Gala support programs, education, advocacy, and research so that every baby gets the best possible start. Now more than ever, we must continue to fight for the health of moms, babies, and their families.
