Under The Desert Sun

On the evening of July 9th at the Organ Pavilion in Balboa Park, the evening came alive with a festive reception to welcome attendees to the annual Patrons of the Prado Gala celebrating its Silver Anniversary in 2022.

This signature event has become an invaluable financial resource for the 10 beneficiaries who reside on the Prado in Balboa Park.T

he annual MASTERPIECE event, Under The Desert Sun, hosted by the Patrons of the Prado, was a huge success. MASTERPIECE is the signature fundraiser, and for the past twenty-five years, Patrons has contributed close to $5 million in unrestricted grant funds to ten beneficiaries that reside on the Prado in Balboa Park.

The all-volunteer non-profit mission is to preserve the legacy of art and culture, science, history and theater institutions, now and for future generations. With the introduction of the Bucks4Buses program, Patrons has provided transportation to the Park for over 200,000 San Diego underserved school-age students to experience the park first-hand, and provided grant funds for educational outreach to the beneficiaries augmenting their own efforts.

Patrons of the Prado Beneficiaries include: Fleet Science Center, Mingei International Museum, Museum of Photographic Arts, Museum of Us, The Old Globe, San Diego History Center, San Diego Junior Theatre, San Diego Museum of Art, San Diego Natural History Museum and Timken Museum of Art.

With sincere appreciation for your continued coverage and support of our mission to support the world-class cultural organizations along The Prado in Balboa Park, who enhance our community in so many ways!
